No Witchcraft For Sale explains the moral courage of Gideon, the Farquar's servant. Gideon had helped the Farquars' son, Teddy with a very serious snake bite, by spatting a mysterious plant into Teddy's eyes. It turns out that the plant was a native secret that Gideon knows about after that knowledge was passed down from a chosen man in the black African community. He was told to keep that information silent, but when the Farquars get a doctor that wants the plant to help cure the ill, Gideon felt betrayed, he refused to share the secret. He eventually gave the doctor a useless plant, and became very distant with the Farquars, but eventually their relationship had started to build back.
