in the letter from the Birmingham jail Dr. Martin Luther king showed moral courage through many ways. The fact that racism was a huge part of life that african americans had to overcome, Dr. King showed moral courage by standing up for what he felt and knew was right. in the letter, he stated that there was a request to remove humiliating racial signs that were in stores and the merchants promised to do so. The promise was broken, some signs remained and were never removed and shortly after the ones that were removed were placed right back up. after the signs were seen dr. king and his followers began to start having workshops on nonviolence preparing themselves for direct action. in these workshops they repeatedly asked themselves if they could accept the punishment that was about to come apon them, and can they accept it with no regrets or violent actions. the fact that he stood up for what he believed in and took direct action which was extremely wrong in the whites eyes shows the moral courage that dr. king has dr. king is the perfect example of moral courage because the laws set back when racism was legal were completely unjust and he stood up for what he believed in and didn't abide by law and that is the definition moral courage.
